What are some novel applications of computer programming in microwave engineering?
-
By novel I mean aside from simulators
-
Answer:
The vast majority of computer programming in microwave engineering is indeed circuit simulators. The flip side of that is testing. Computers are used to de-embed impedances using measurements from vector network analyzers. Another great application is compact antenna ranges. Near field measurements are made on antennas and the far field radiation pattern is calculated from the sum of the near field measurements. This enables an antenna range that normally is the size of several football fields to fit inside a small room.
