How to break the fortiguard?

What's a good way to break up with my new boyfriend? Over the phone? If not how do I get him around to break up with him?

  • I've dated this guy for about two weeks (gone on about 3/4 dates before) and he's really nice and sweet.  I need to break up with him though because he's just more interested in this relationship than I am.  He's very much invested and much more serious than I realized.  I am just not that serious and not looking to be in a really serious relationship right now. My problem is that I'm terrible with conflict and I have never broken up with someone (not since high school which is much different).  I wanted to call and do it but everyone says thats to harsh, but I don't know how to invite him out to break up with him. Which also sounds very harsh to me.  I have a kid so we don't just come hang out at each others houses, 'cause I don't like my son to be around someone I'm just dating (for this reason, if we break up I don't want him being attached).  I just wanted some advice on 1. Can I break up with him over the phone? 2. If not how do I go about getting him to come around JUST so I can break up with him without looking like a total bitch and 3. What's the best way to do it? What do I say to him?

4 dates isn't so much that you need to make a big deal out it... I'd follow this good advice.

Call him on the phone, tell him you feel that you need to spend more time with your child/mother/studying/whatever. That he's a great person, but you're not in the right place for a relationship right now
