What are modern methods of education?

Why is Indian Education considered Lower education compared to other Countries? What can be the suggestive methods to improve Indian Education?

  • Answer:

I'd like to talk about higher education here. According to me, one of the biggest problems in the Indian education system is its overemphasis on rote learning and mugging up. No one wants to sit for hours on end, trying to remember equations and theories that he/she knows won't be needed ever again after the examinations. Teaching kids in a practical, application-based way (this would involving training and creating better teachers too) would make them genuinely interested in their studies and ignite a passion for a subject in them. They would want to innovate and expand upon that field, not chase the highest-paying job they can get as a doctor/engineer/banker because that's what their parents/relatives/elders told them to do. Secondly, the number of high-class colleges is very low, I would say almost next to nothing. No wonder, we see rising cutoffs every year in places like Delhi University and the craze for entrance exams like the IIT-JEE. All this puts tremendous pressure on students and encourages many of them, at least the ones whose parents can afford it, to go abroad; I can say this from my own personal experience with colleges in India. Increasing the number of good colleges and improving upon the existing ones would go a long way towards fixing this problem. Of course this is only one facet of the entire issue and a lot more must be done to bring Indian education on par with that of other countries.
