How To Learn English Through Telugu Free?

Do school children in India learn how to use computers only in English or in their native language, too?

  • For example, do children learn to type in Hindi, Bengali or Telugu, or only in English? And do children use computers with an interface in their native language or only in English?

  • Answer:

As far as I know, all schoolchildren learn to use computers in English. It's extremely difficult to get hold of keyboards in native languages and software support in languages other than English. In fact, I have never seen a keyboard in any Indian language. I am sure somebody designed them and maybe even sold a few, but they are pretty much non-existent. However, if a child has access to computers in school, s/he probably knows English and in all probability is taught all subjects in English (though this is changing with vernacular instruction medium schools adopting computers). So, I don't particularly see the need of it in the future either. However, with tablets, virtual keyboards and language packs becoming more popular, I can see Indian languages gaining more acceptance in computing. However, Indian language publishing has to come of age in the digital world before such things are even necessary, forget commonplace.

The only time I ever saw anyone using Hindi on a computer was when I saw my Hindi teacher typing in a question paper. In fact, up till that point, I wasn't aware any language other than English could be used on a computer. She had to use letter stickers on an English keyboard to do it at the time. But I'm talking about almost 10 years back. It's ancient history as far as computing is concerned and the scene has probably shifted a lot now (towards localisation and outreach).

As someone who has only lived in cities, I am yet to see a private school which teaches students how to use computers in a local language. Two of my schools had computers which could be used in Hindi and Bangla. A few Hindi-medium government schools do teach their students to use their computer in Hindi. The major problem in teaching students this skill is the unavailability of softwares localized in Hindi or any other Indian language.

As far as i have seen, it is english. Although tutoring is in whatever language they are comfortable. But the local digital print shops and their trainees use the language of demand, hindi, marathi, gujrati, arabic, urdu etc.. But not for handling the comp just for printing out various languages.

My children are taught to use computers in English. Their school (Orchids   International) have separate computer hours in which children are allowed to learn, watch some education related videos and do some activities related with computers. This had made them to gain good knowledge in computers and in recent days I have took some steps to teach them use computers in our native language. They find it little bit difficult but hope they will learn it very   soon.
