How to fade clothing super fast?

Laundry: How should I wash an article of clothing that is mostly white but also has some very bright colours which I don't want to fade?

  • For example (and in my case, specifically), this shirt: http://www.legupmanagement.com/main/images/OhShitGangGang.jpg This is a follow-up question to .

  • Answer:

Wash in cold water and don't use bleach. However, looking at your example, this is a printed t-shirt. The print on a t-shirt is not fabric dye, so it should not run. The t-shirt can go in warm water with other white/light laundry (you might want to double-check the label, as some t-shirts are labeled for cold water). The most important thing to remember with this garment is not to iron the print on the t-shirt. A garment for which this is a real concern would be something like a red and white striped polo shirt.

I've had experience using a product called Colour Catcher. Put it in the washing machine with any garment whose colouring might run, on a normal cycle suitable for the garment & it miraculously absorbs the dye which would ordinarily have run.
