Is anyone else having problems with google?

Is anyone having problems verifying a Google Places listing with phone verification? How do you fix it?

  • When I am claiming an existing unclaimed Google listing in Google places and it gives me phone verification I get a call failed message after I request the code. The lines I tried for all my listings are land lines belonging to the businesses. Anyone else that have experienced such a problem?

If the phone number being entered is attached to a VOIP or mobile number, and Google identifies it as such, then they will want a postcard validation.

Phone verification is heading out.  See http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Google-Map-Jack-246585191.html for insight as to why this is happening.

Also, if the phone number you entered is not the same as what they see form other sources (Yellow Pages etc) then they will only verify by postcard. They have gotten much quicker sending the cards out and the help section and assistance is greatly improved the last year.

It is possible when you are not providing a land line contact number.
