Why India-US arms deal have seen a major increase since 2006 ($25 billion to $100 billion)? Why are we moving away from Russia and Israel when they have acted as good suppliers?

In last years only one time bid took place(in case of Rafale deal) and US was out in the first round only. So India is doing these deals just to please US or is really gaining something from it. Moreover US supplies the arms to Pakistan also. US only deals with India for defensive weapons only. All the offensive weapons are supplied by mainly Russia(nuclear submarine, aircraft carrier, Sukhoi,strategic bombers,etc). Why India is moving away from old friends who have supported India in all times?

America has the world's most advanced defense tech, and everyone knows it! This is a great chance for India to create it's own military industrial base. A certain clause that applies to any arms purchase that India makes is that a certain percent of the weapon system being bought (usually 30%) has to be manufactured locally, this giving the Indian firms much needed expertise in building indigenous systems that are state of the art! Anyway it's a good policy to diversify our defense imports, given that in recent times Russia had managed to arm twist India into increasing the cost of the weapon systems it was supplying, while at the same time giving us inferior quality crap well beyond the schedule! Case in point- INS Vikramaditya. It's been delayed more than once and the price has been increase many times. Such a vital aircraft carrier, which is an integral part of our naval capabilities, can not be treated lackadaisically!
