Is there any online palmistry learning websites?

What are good examples of online learning communities?

  • I'm looking for interesting examples of online learning platforms which integrate some or all of the following aspects into an effective learning experience: Online community/social network: Learners meet other learners on the platform Peer-to-peer learning: There is a curriculum, but some of the learning happens through interaction of users with each other (e.g. collaboration, mutual feedback) Gamification: Game mechanics are used to incentivize learning progress (e.g. quests, levels, badges) I'm not looking for websites like Coursera or Udacity where people can share or find webinars and video classes. Instead, I'm interested in sites that are specifically designed for learning one particular subject or skill set in a setting that offers both a curriculum and interaction with a community. Furthermore, what kind of subjects are best suited for studying in such an online learning community? Test preparation (GMAT, SAT)? Languages? What else?

I'm working on one. PenPal News is a web app that uses news as a conversation-starter to connect students around the world. It's both a platform (that makes it easy for a pair of teachers to partner their classes and then partner individual students) and a curriculum (we provide a six week course of news articles focusing on different themes). For our Red-Blue exchange this fall we partnered middle and high school classrooms in red and blue states to write to each other about the role of government, the economy, immigration, health care and energy. Students read and respond to questions about articles we provide each week, and then respond to what their penpal wrote about the previous week (enabling asynchronous communication). Interesting writing and discussion often ensues. We've yet to incorporate gamification, but it's on the roadmap.

Sounds like Sakai is your best option, but you might need to purchase additional plugins. It's open-source, so it's very customisable but it doesn't offer the spit and polish of other platforms.

For me, the best online school yet is http://codeschool.com/. Quick classes (5 minutes average) followed by an exercise of the content of that class (and sometimes previous classes). The gamefication part is well done too.

For the online learners as well as for the campus students various learning forums and communities give a platform to interact with the other students and share their learning experiences. Apart from that, it help in sharing students' knowledge, experience or simply carry out a discussion related to the subject or any social issue. Online conference and webinars are also conducted to enrich their knowledge base. Here are few online groups I have listed : 1. Teachers Connect 2. Mumsnet 3. StudentRoom
