How do I get to contact a stakeholder (General Manager?) in a hotel (either in person or on the phone) to negotiate a preferential long stay with her or him? How does a hotel's stakeholder structure looks like? I got this tip if I want to negotiate a preferential long stay with a hotel obviously I should contact them directly but not with the directly commissioned front clerk (conflict of interest) but the General Manager (her or his best interest) or at least someone close to her or him, if she or he may be too busy or important to deal with the issue, depending on the hotel type or size. I don't know nothing about a hotel's stakeholder structure, the one thing I know is properties in a well known chain are operated as independent franchises (most of the time). Obviously you should contact multiple hotels to let them compete against each other for you. The main question is not how to negotiate but how to find and contact the right person.

You need to also understand how big of a customer you are. If you are looking at a chain hotel that is often sold out, to whose interest would it be to give you a room for a year at a discount? If you are looking at a struggling 6 room B&B, yeah... they would discount the cost. I was at a Holiday Inn in San Antonio when my 4 day trip turned into a 2 month stay, I went to the front desk told them the situation and they gave me 25% off the corporate rate I was already at, so i do not think your premise of needing to talk to the GM is correct. I would not wave in the face of the hotel that you are talking to the competition also, if I had a 100 room hotel with a 80% occupancy rate, one person staying for a few months is not a huge deal and if they are a prick, I would not want them in my hotel, they would probably be a prick about other things, and who wants to be around people like that? Why not call the hotels directly and find what you get when you ask for a lower price off of what they offer you? If the price is not low enough, then ask to talk to the GM, see what happens.

Simply asking to see the manager was all we needed Smaller properties have the GM on-site. Larger properties are less likely to work with you. Attempting to get multiple hotels to compete for one room? That's not going to happen. I stayed in hotels for 2.5 years several months at a time while doing door to door sales around USA. We negotiated a weekly rate at each location for our entire crew.

Tahiti Before landing I found out the average stay on the island of Tahiti itself is 1 day, before getting on a cruise or going to Bora-Bora. I asked the manager, an American, what kind of discount he could give me it I was there 3 weeks and ate all my meals at the hotel. We went from $1000/night for over-water fare to $250. Bali Very large luxury hotel was empty during economic crisis. Got compound with swimming pool and servants and limo with driver for $250/day. Caesar Park, Sheraton and Intercontinental in Rio. Tell manager I want to live there. All meals, security, business center, money exchange, car rental 50% off during high season. Has to be done in person with the manager. He has to feel like you are solving a problem for his hotel as much as you saving some money for yourself.

There are hotels which are offering longterm rates, they call it executive apartments and the rates are usually lower than the actual daily rate. You don't have to contact the general manager. If you call the hotel, just ask to be transferred to the sales department.
