How to wire neons to plug?

4 wire plug / 3 wire outlet; 240v dryer

• I live in an old apartment. I cannot afford to rewire the outlet. Is there a way to wire in a 4 wire outlet to existing 3 wire service? I have a black wire, a white wire, & a naked wire. I won't be here forever & when I leave, I'll take the 4 wire outlet with me & put the 3 wire back in place.

  You would have to replace the 4 prong cord on the dryer to a 3 prong cord. If you have the manual, the information should be there. There needs to be a jumper wire between the chasis of the dryer and the neutral terminal where the wires connect. Although you need to be very careful, because if you do it wrong, you could get a shock. It would be against code to put a 4 prong plug on the wall. Plus wiring in a multi-family building must be done by an electrician.
