How do you scrape websites that use services like Brassring?

Have you monetized your reading lists?

  • I read a lot through my RSS reader, Feedly. It takes a good amount of effort to find interesting sources, not just from the directory but also from unpublished sources (using Dapper, feed43, etc). Sometimes I need to use 3rd party services to scrape websites for content or go to unexpected places for it (Facebook pages, PubMed, etc). This is great for me and worth it on its own but it's got me wondering: Is it possible to monetize all the work I've done curating my reading lists, without too much extra effort? To a rough approximation, writing a new blog would do the trick. However, I'd need to generate as much content as I read for that and, many people say blogs are a waste of time. OTOH, I wouldn't be dedicating much extra time for it since I'm reading and tagging anyway. Legally, it seems questionable whether you can simply republish the curated reading list as a new site but in practice it seems quite acceptable (Twitter, Tumblr, etc). So what are your thoughts? Is it possible and if so how do you think it could be done?
