Why can we cultivate hybrid seed?

Seed spacingsheeet

  • I am attempting to create asheet to help me with maximising seed to be spaced in a specific sized patch of soil. Different seed requires different spacing e.g. garlic is 20 cm between rows and 10cm apart, and the area of soil available for the seed also varies, but will be roughly 60cm x 50cm for each type of seed. The orientation of the rows needs to be such that the most seed positions are achieved. Also the seed position cannot be right to the edge e.g. with the garlic the 7 rows of garlic would be 60cm long and would leave 2 positions right at the edge. I¡¯d be very grateful for your help with this sheet. Additionally, and not sure if this is possible, I¡¯d like to get the sheet to output a plot of the seed positions within the patch dimensions for the seed spacing that allowed for the greatest number of seeds to be planted. I love the question, but I admit to not being sure of how one would go about doing this - I'm guessing you've tried before as my google search for ideas http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&source=hp&q=excel+seed+spacing+worksheet&meta=&aq=f&oq=excel+seed+spacing+worksheet&fp=a73fa2ac306dd28e pointed me at a question already answered - I would IMAGINE this would need to be done with VBA - and rather like your previous answer, my time is a bit short at the moment - however, happy to consider further - my email is [email protected] This sounds like a very interesting task that I am sure is manageable in excel. It is a bit involved though, and my schedule is busy this week. Is there a tight timeframe you are working under? Depending on your timeframe, I may have to decline. -Craig
