Reuse fireplace insert chimney for wood stove

  • I removed a Majestic Fireplace insert and purchased a wood stove. Can I use the same chimney? Majestic had a metal 12" chimney and the wood stove has a 6" flue.

    almost all wood stoves run more efficiently if the same size flue can be run up the entire length of the chimney. if a metal lining can be put in from the stove all the way to the top of the chimney it would make the stove run better and would also make cleaning it easier
