• QUESTION: I have learned how to mail merge labels and am trying to update a directory in the same way, but am not having success. I my contact information in both a CSV file andfile and also have a existing directory - last years directory in adocument. Rather than enter the have information in manually in the directory, I'd like to merge them together ( either using the csv file orfile, and that way I can keep the formatting of the directory I currently have. Is in your area of expertice?, Julia ANSWER: I'm not clear what it is you are trying to achieve here - I presume this is adirectory of data - there is an issue if you have data in two sources, as you can only have ONE for a merge - I would suggest bringing in the CSV data into thefile and using that as the source -will do directories, but you also mention that you have data already IN a directory, so it's not clear what the merge would achieve. ---------- FOLLOW-UP ---------- QUESTION: I am trying to update a directory I have as adocument as I stated in my question. I would like to update it with current contact information to replace the older contact information. I have the most current contact information in both anfile and a csv file, meaning the information is not divided, but rather i could use either one. I would like to incorporate the information I have using either one of these files into the older 2008 directory, to merge them together. Using using the older directory, will allow me to maintain the formatting, and merging them will allow me to incorporate new information automatically instead of updating the names one by one. Can you please tell me how to do this?

  My concern is that it sound as though you want to UPDATE entries that already exist in the directory - so find Mr Smith in the data source, and amend the address if it is different - this isn't how a directory merge works http://support.microsoft.com/kb/294693 gives steps on doing adrectory merge
