How to get Count of each Column value of table?

Excel 2010 pivot table

  • , Hopefully a very simple question for you but one I have spent a day researching to no avail. Until last week I have always usedas it is our corporate software. I have just upgraded to 2010. When I construct a pivot table in the old version, on my most common table, I tend to put two values in the main data area. One value is usually the sum of the invoices I am summarising and under that I usually put an invoice count. The resultant pivot table has by default, in one column, the value of the invoices with the number of invoices directly underneath - perfect Using the 2010 pivot table however, when I attempt the same thing the values are placed next to the invoice count ie in a separate column side by side. Try as I might I cannot get the orientation of these two numbers the same as2003 - is there a quick way to do so please?

Ralph, I am sure there is a way to restore what you want, but just from your description I can't visualize what you used to do or what the situation is now. One thing you can do is to go into pivot table options (in the left most section of the special Pivot Table tools tab when the pivot table is selected) and under the pivot table display tab, select the classic view and see if that fixes it. If not, if you can send me a small pivot table sample of your current problem and one that shows how you want it to look, I can get a better idea of what the problem is and provide you some practical advice.
