How can I play my part to stop Narendra Modi from becoming India's next PM?
-
I don't mind someone else from NDA like Manohar Parrikar or Nitish Kumar (ex-NDA) becoming India's PM. But not Modi of all people. As per opinion polls BJP is almost likely to win and I am really worried. I am donating to AAP to help support their campaign. But I have a full time job and can't volunteer for them. Also even if Kejriwal wins in Varanasi, Modi will likely win in Gujarat and still be a MP. AAP is also unilikely to win a majority and would not support Rahul Gandhi as PM (rightly so - Kumar Vishwas would defeat him in any case). What can I do to make sure we have clean people in the parliament and in the cabinet? Can writing a petition (signed by many others) to BJP's head office influence them to change their mind about the PM candidate? Should I ask my local BJP candidate to not vote for Modi when voted to power?

The AAP has pedestrian standpoints on issues of governance. The only promise it has is of eradicating corruption and there's no guarantee there either. While corruption is the most significant issue this election, it is not the only one. We are a country that stems from pluralism and no Prime Minister has the power to interfere with that aspect. Do not worry, India will choose well! (My subjective view is that AAP is a phony party and that I hope it gets crushed.)

These years winning can never be absolute but greed is, so having a leader who can serve people by overcoming all the challenges around greed (within the party and outside the party) is very essential. AAP clearly failed to prove this and absolutely no confident that they can do anything at country level when they can't deliver under realistic conditions they faced in Delhi. This way one had to see elections every year..at the cost not just money but time of all the people involved. Yes, I do wish election reforms come in with more cost and time effective way.. but that hope for that is future 50 years down the line. I would wish Manifesto's to say what they would do when they have absolute majority and what they don't get absolute majority. So, AAP trying to show they can only means, split the votes again in others favour.. i.e. repeat what happened to BJP in Delhi. I do think AK has vision right, but I can't dream that he can get 300+ others in his party with power and support of AK vision... forget.. look for next best option for your vote to valuable this time..

If you are voting to stop Narendra Modi (or in fact any candidate) from winning than you are not voting the right way. You have probably misunderstood the concept of voting. There are roughly 15 candidates from each constituency or maybe more. One should not vote to defeat a person because then you might help in choosing one of the remaining 14 Tom, Dick and Harry standing from your constituency. Instead you should vote for the person you think would do best for your constituency and would work for development and benefit of the people. Think before you go to vote. Don't get misguided by the people who try to allure you. Vote the best candidate on the basis of your consciousness.

Start by sharing your thoughts on social media with people you can influence. is a classic example.

I don't know why every one is speaking about stopping modi. But according to me When Australia is in its peak in cricketing form everyone wanted them to lose and same applies in case of modi. People always want to stop the stronger one and the better one. which I feel is idiotic. any how you have a democratic right to vote and try to influence maximum voters by educating them. And my final suggestion is there are regional parties along with whom bjp will form alliance with so they can well stop modi from doing any adversities. So my option would be to vote to a regional party which can win and also form a alliance with modi so that these parties can stop modi doing any adversaries.

The first way to help any party is that you must have clear reasons because of them you support that party. You should spread your opinion with positive manner through social media or campaigning on ground. Ultimate victory of any party or any leader will be by our votes not by media.

Well I don't really care about your hatred for a specific person as I share the same for the AAP (you are donating money to) founder Arvind kejriwal.. But yes..If I had anonymously put such a question..100s of AAP supporters(I said 100 because the strength is not much anywhere there days especially after the Delhi verdict of this guy) would have come against saying it was done by another paid by BJP person..but that's okay even if an auto driver hits Kejriwal. Even that poor disappointed person who donated his earnings (I'd traveled a lot in autos in last few months so I know 1 thing fr sure..these people earn on daily basis and pay rent for their autos daily as well so they are not left with much savings like you for donation in AAP..So it is more valuable for them) felt fooled by a person who gave 18 promises on paper and ran away when he failed even in the first one. But please as all AAP supporters say he must have been paid by BJP so how can I say this was not of anger of a common man because that only exist under AAP supporters, all speaking against it are either fools or paid by BJP. The not so favorite person of mine came nearby my residence few days back and I wished if I could do the same to him as this poor auto driver did but I was not a fool to donate a penny to this person(earlier I didn't have a clear stand on this person but now its more clear to me than anything else) so I had no motive or strong reason except my personal hatred...else I also would have been one of those paid by BJP. I explained this as a current affair..now since I have started a backward loop let me go to the point that this person declares Rs 10,00,000/- loan at time of nomination, claimed to not having money to contest for elections yet he manages to pay Rs 85000/- per month for a govt flat after 15 days of resignation despite having a residence in Kaushambi, I guess that rent is also paid by BJP. Moving a little bit back when he was CM, let me explain the water subsidy scenario first- free 20000 litres of water was allotted on each water meter but, if it crosses the mark you have to pay for all consumption and what was said in the end that it is debatable figure whether it should be 20000 or more, did he Calculate avg family strength in Delhi based on their water meters? Did he ever mention any calculated figure of water consumption on monthly basis for the meters which are actively working in Delhi? What amuses me even more is an Income Tax Officer, IIT kgp Alumini cannot apply simple statistics before performing actions. But wait all the statisticians are paid by BJP. His own party MLA (Binny) stood against him in media for his misgoverning and noticing a sudden change in his motives. To which again he says he has either hunger for power or has been paid by BJP. Please forgive me to bring only a few points as I always try to keep forgetting about this person for him being so frustrating and annoying. Now coming onto your point on Modi...I really don't have any advise on this but I believe explaining your hatred with justified reasons just like I did for your favorite person...your question might have not been meaningless.

Not sure if there is any concrete reason for you to oppose PM candidate of BJP. But here are my two cents for you to have a re look at your decision. This is not an endorsement for Modi but rather a case against AAP and congress. Why not vote for congress/AAP. I think all of us can say that congress is definitely not an option .A decade of misrule, lack of good governance, corruption, inflation weak with Pakistan on foreign policy, fact that we could not bring back the culprits of 26/11,an economy based on doles and high spending by government on non productive assets.Plus I believe that any one from Gandhi Family is not competent enough to rule the country and other congressmen are too timid or too sycophant to fight for top job.Had they made PC,face of election, young and educated Indians might have given a thought, but clearly this is not the case. AAP for all its rhetoric and talk against corruption, chickened out when they got the chance to city/state of Delhi, where people are sensible and majority doesn't vote on creed/caste.You cannot expect any serious policy or direction from them. All they did in 49 days was giving out doles and no single serious policy decision for long-term.They should have shown what they can do in Delhi and may be extend the fight to Haryana,Punjab,NCR and HP.A centralized, well planned and dedicated campaign in these 4 areas might have given them more value for their buck.

Why wouldn't u want Modi as the PM?? Now dnt give me the only reason of the Gujarat Communal Riots in 2002! Parties can't oppose his policies that have led to extravagant development in Gujarat so they keep on talking about his Sectarian viewpoints which are far from true. I recently read it on the Congress site that Shri Atal Ji never supported him. Atal Ji could be right about Modi not living upto the expectations of delivering 'RajDhrama' back then. But one should also recall that Modi has been given a clean chit for the Riots from the Apex Court of India. Talking about Crony Capitalism, for which Modi is blamed, I don't find a problem with it as long as the growth is Sustainable and substantial. Coming to ur argument of a diff leader within BJP, I wud like to say We've had a decade of Governance where though the PM was a very learned man but was not an emphatic leader and it has led us nowhere. Modi is a man with the Vision of taking India to new heights. The only reason why BJP is a strong contender contesting this elections is because of its PM candidate. No one's clean, but given the scenario we need to choose the one who is lesser guilty of the lot and can set course for Indian dominance on a global scale. Coming to AAP, well this party has left the Delhi public high and dry. They hav under delivered on numerous occasions. A bunch of inexperienced lot who are headed by a confused person who keeps switching between politics and dharnas.
