Looking for unique web ad techniques.

I'm looking for open source ad server code. I need code that will enable an advertiser to self publish an ad on our web portal or mobile app. Similar to the Living Social business model. Suggestions?

• My current web searches are bringing up companies like OpenX and Zedo. They have software that places banner ads or pop-ups on websites, which is NOT what I'm looking for.

  Is there a specific reason you are looking for an open source ad-serving solution? You can try out Revive which is an opensourced version of OpenX if you would like but I would encourage you to think critically about the costs and benefits of developing tools and feature sets which many out of the box products already have. You could also look at AppNexus (disclaimer : I work there) which provides very extensible APIs that can be used to create customized adserving tool kits. Of course your decision solely relies on the level of customization reqired but hope this helps a little bit!
