Where do you spend your time in summer?

Suppose you had 3 months before you entered university. Would you spend the time by signing up for the summer programmes that the university offers, or would you look for a part-time job?

  • I've got 3 months before university begins, and they're offering a couple of programmes for would-be freshmen. The courses take place before the start of term. I'd originally been planning on working part-time to get some work experience. Which option would you choose?

If the work experience is either super interesting or in your line of study, it's a great deal. But if your doing something just to make money, like working at a store or restaurant, your better off taking courses at the university. That's my opinion. Taking classes would sharpen your thinking and can get you a head start on deciding what you want to specialize in/ concentrate on. You might be able to find a more satisfying job once you have more knowledge, say after year 1 or 2 in your program, rather than just out of high school. If you need the money from the work experience, however, then things may be different.
