What are the analytics capabilities of the iOS app store for app developers?
-
Are there reports telling you how many people visited your download page, their location, referrers, etc? Is it possible to install Google Analytics? Screenshots would be appreciated.

Answer:
The only data you get for an iOS app is downloads, updates, purchases, and returns. That's it. You have absolutely no information about your app's store page. You do not get pageviews. You do not get download source. Nothing. There are some 3rd parties that can give extra insight. AppAnnie can give you store rank and revenue & download estimations for competitors. MobileAppTracking can give you paid download source. Mixpanel can track how your users flow through your app.

The analytics capabilities of the iOS app store are pretty limited. And the way the stats are presented is not helping. If what you want are better way to get this information, then you can try tools like App Annie, AppFigures, Mopapp or Distimo Analytics. We actually compared these four in a blog post that you can find here: http://www.apptamin.com/blog/download-tracking-tools/ For in-app analytics and learning how people use your app, there are many solutions too. Too many to be listed here but once again we talked about some of them here: http://www.apptamin.com/blog/app-analytics-tools/. This topic on Quora also has some interesting views, mostly given by the people making those tools: Now..What you're talking about seems to be more about knowing where your conversions from visitors to users come from. For that, you could try TapStream (https://tapstream.com/), http://yoz.io or Distimo App Links. These should let you know which channels work best for your app user acquisition. What Google is doing with their in-app analytics tool (see link above) is pretty interesting as it seems that you can actually track who visits your Google Play page, downloads and use your app (and how). But this is for Android, and not likely to happen anytime soon for Apple.
