Can you use any image from Google on Wikipedia?

Is there a guaranteed way kids can use Google Image Search without inadvertently coming across images of pornography?

• All the schools in Australia pretty much let their students use it with only the Google Safe Search function in place for protection. My 8 year old daughter was exposed to a shocking image of gay porn, BDSM style, at school while using it. She was looking for Easter Buns for her Easter project.  I have not found any evidence that it's possible to use this technology without running the risk of viewing images inappropriate for kids. Even more shocking images were offered in the 'Suggested images' panel next to the clicked on image.

  No, there isn't a way your child can absolutely stay away from certain content on the internet, if allowed open (non-whitelisted) access. Not with google images, not with anything. However there is a way to keep your daughter (or son) very much safe: Talk to her. Explain there are things there not meant for her, and she may accidentally stumble across those things. Tell her to just ignore them and go elsewhere. Tell her they aren't directed at her, but some other people, and that she's seeing them by mistake. And tell her if they bother her, or she feels confused, or has any questions whatsoever about them, she can come talk to you at any time. And be ready to explain. And that's it. She's safe. She may be uncomfortable at times, and you may be uncomfortable at times, but the good sides of open access are probably worth it. (Though, that is of course for you to decide.)
