What do you think about the green city?

Are there many tourists in your town/city? What do they like to visit/do? What do you think of them? Which countries do they come from? What are the benefits of having them?

  • I'm from São Paulo, but I live in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curitiba Brazil. There are many things to do and visit here. Usually the visitors come from Argentina. Among all Brazilian State capitals, Curitiba (the capital of the State of Parana, in Southern Brazil) claims to have the highest green area rate per inhabitant in the country. This is why it is called the Brazilian Ecological Capital. In my opinion, the best place to visit in my town is the Tanguá Park. But there are many others places here. Tanguá Park (Parque Tanguá) Tanguá Park—Inaugurated in 1996, the Tanguá Park was built on top of a complex of deactivated quarries. It is part of the Barigüi river preservation project joining Tingüi and Barigüi parks. This Its area is 450 thousand square meters covers two quarries connected by a 45 meter tunnel that may be crossed on foot by a path over the water. It can be visited on boat or on foot (hiking). German's Grove (Bosque do Alemão) Bosque Alemão (meaning German Wood) is a park built in Curitiba in honor of the German immigrants who begin to settle in the city in the early 19th century. In the park visitors can walk on the trail of Hansel and Gretel (after the tale of Brothers Grimm) and reach the gingerbread and candy house, where usually on Saturday afternoons children listen to tales told by the crone that lives in the famous Brothers Grimm tale. Botanical Garden of Curitiba (Jardim Botânico) The Jardim Botânico de Curitiba, in Portuguese, or the Botanical Garden of Curitiba, in English, is also known as the "Jardim Botânico Fanchette Rischbieter". This is a park located in the city of Curitiba, the capital of the state of Paraná, and the biggest city in southern Brazil. It is the major tourist attraction and landmark of the city, and it houses part of the campus of the Federal University of Paraná. The international identification code is CURIT. I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It's a town that has one main event that brings in lots of tourists - The http://summerfest.com/ music festival which takes place at the end of June / early July each year. About 800,000-1,000,000 people visit the festival and they come from all over the Midwest region. There are not many foreign tourists coming to Milwaukee but that does not mean it's a boring town. Aside from Summerfest, there are many other ethnic festivals taking place each year, fantastic museums and lots of places to visit for any type of tourism activity. Most tourists visit the famous Milwaukee Art Museum, the Harley Davidson Museum and the Milwaukee Zoo. The popular area to eat at restaurants is the Riverwalk and Third Ward, an old neighborhood in downtown Milwaukee which has been renovated and turned into a beautiful area. I personally wish there would be many more foreign tourists to Milwaukee (just two hours north of Chicago). Being in the travel industry, I know how important tourism is to the local economy. Best time to visit - June through August. I am originally from Israel, which of course is very different from Milwaukee and is filled with foreign tourists on a regular basis. But that's a different story for another time. http://www.visitmilwaukee.org/ http://mam.org/ http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Content/Pages/HD_Museum/museum.html http://www.historicthirdward.org/ http://www.milwaukeezoo.org/ Milwaukee's Riverwalk at night (http://blog.jdroachphotography.com/)
