What is RSS on my Yahoo homepage?

Why doesn't Yahoo News have functional RSS feeds to subscribe to?

  • According to Yahoo Developer Network (YDN) documentation, http://developer.yahoo.com/rss/: Category URL: http://news.yahoo.com/science/ Feed URL:  http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/science/ But since the document was last updated, that's changed to this: Category URL: http://news.yahoo.com/science/ Feed URL: http://news.yahoo.com/rss/science/ (NOTE: The previous RSS feed link redirects to the latter; so it's obvious.) Similarly, country-specific Yahoo News sites, e.g. Yahoo News Singapore have their RSS feeds like this: Category URL: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/tech/ Feed URL: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/rss/tech/ (In the latter's case, the feed is specifically listed in the Site Index page.) The problem with these feeds is that they are messed up; the order of news items is random and/or not all the latest news is available in the feed. Does Yahoo News have proper feeds available for readers to subscribe?

  • Answer:

A2A: Well, the feeds work for me as described when I follow the current instructions on Yahoo, and they come to me in order, not in random order.  But I am using Thunderbird as my RSS reader, maybe it is more understanding of RSS feeds.  What are RSS reader are you using?
