Is there any open source framework/tool to build a news feed like website?

I want to make a News Feed like website that has has only one source of information or feed (unlike social networking) that is to be updated dynamically on each user's homepage as new contents are added. Is there any such open source tool/framework (built upon php) you've come across that will help me do this?
