What are the best substitute cameras to the Canon EOS 60D?

  • The http://mycamera.co.za/canon-eos-60d-body-only.html is my first choice for a new camera. I wanted to know if anyone thinks there is a better substitute at a similar price range. Thanks for your help.

    60D is a winner between is nearest neighbors 600D and 700D. But those two are beginner's camera. I mean, they can't compete with 60D in terms of sensor quality, viewfinder and it's coverage, shooting speed, ISO capabilities etc. So you can consider the newly released 70d as your next replacement. It's made as the successor of famous 60D and holds a better sensor, image processor and low light capabilities. Plus it has something what canon is calling "Dual pixel sensor", which helps to maintain auto focus even in movie mode. So I think it will be a good replacement

at a similar price range you can get 600D or 700D, all three of them share same 18 megapixel APS-C crop sensor, but 700D has got a DIGIC-5 processor compared to DIGIC-4 processor in the other two. but personally i think its better to get a 60D, it's one of a semi pro body and somewhat better build quality (weather sealed as they say) compared to other two. also with a 5.3 FPS burst mode, plus the battery power of 60D (LP-E6) is around 1.6 times that of 600D & 700D (LP-E8), that means almost double number of shots in a single recharge, also the top lcd for checking aperture/shutter/iso and other values is helpful in making fast changes during manual mode shooting. all these makes 60D a winner. you have already made an excellent choice, go for 60D.
