What is the ultimate dream for a professional European football (soccer) player - winning the World Cup for his country or winning the Champions League for his club?

• Also, is there any difference between the way European, South Americans, African or Asian players feel towards club football versus playing for their country?

  It has to be both IF possible. But then for a player from a club in South America/ Asia/ Africa or a club like Tottenham Hotspur/ Napoli/ Valencia/ Schalke who has very little or no chance of winning the Champions League in the recent future, it will be to lift the World Cup (unless of course he plans on moving to a bigger club for winning the CL). For example: 1) Gareth Bale from Wales.. he has no chance (maybe 0.01%) of winning the World Cup. His dream would be to win the Champions League with the club he plays for (even if he has to switch clubs in the process). 2) Maroune Fellaini from Belgium.. if he stays at Everton, he has no chance of qualifying for the Champions league let alone winning it. So his dream would be to win the World Cup with the very much talented Belgium side. There are players who have done both and it is an endless list. But ultimately it is every player's dream to win both the Champions League and the World Cup which is why there is so much disloyalty towards clubs as they keep changing clubs in the search of glory. Nationality is something you can't change and hence players from nations with little chance of winning the World Cup dream of Champions League glory while players from countries which can win the World Cup would dream of both.
