When do you go shopping to the mall?

When I go to the shopping mall I see gorgeous girls in advertisements, but in real life, I don't see any girls who look like that. Why?

Lighting. Hair and makeup. Optics. When you see advertisements, you're seeing a carefully constructed 1/200 of a second. Companies that advertise spend anywhere from tens of thousands of dollars to millions of dollars constructing that perfect instant. I once worked a Maria Sharipova still shoot that crewed 20-odd people for 2 days. There was a companion tv spot that crewed 50 or 60 for the better part of a week. The finished product was 3 photos and a :30 second commercial. Advertising isn't reality.

I have seen & spoken to a girl in my real life who is far far far more beautiful than any of those gorgeous girls that you have seen in the advertisements. And her beauty is not photoshopped like theirs.

Try a different mall. At least in this place, there are always a few girls around at the mall who look like they stepped out of an advertisement. There are also a larger number of women who are very nice, and a bit more casual in dress and decoration. No doubt there are a few voices here who will say that a lot of work went into that "casual" appearance. I suspect they are right ... at least some of the time. Depends on where and how you are looking, I suppose.

You are not alone.  I've noticed this too.   Most likely it's because your workplace favors age and experience over beauty while the mall favors youth and inexperience. I've noticed that attractive ladies are often clustered in certain workplaces also. Unless the work is in a youth oriented field, I've noticed that this often correlates with having a man responsible for the hiring. Alternately, I've noticed that if a woman is responsible for the hiring, and especially if that woman has certain issues, the attractiveness of the female employees suffer. To put it another way, if you're an attractive woman, you probably won't get hired at certain places. I know all of this sounds sexist and unfair. Humans often aren't even aware of why they make certain decisions or that they judge someone based on their looks, but they do.

Isn't it obvious? For one, those girls have been prettied up with the most advanced inventions to date. From boob jobs, to Rhinoplasty, to face lifts. Also, the most advanced medical and dietary procedures will be involved if weight is a problem. Only the best makeup and stylists are used to help make a model look like a model, and even if that STILL isn't enough, Photoshop can take care of the rest (and I assure you it does, more than you know).

Increase the radius of your circle, so that it includes the shopping mall. Problem solved!

I have noticed that a lot of girls dress up well when they go to malls, so obviously they're more noticeable. Generally girls dressing up well are thin (that is why they can find dresses in their size) and generally it is taken as thin=attractive (plus better clothes too!) Plus pretty girls are quite interested in shopping, (coz better clothes makes them look even better) so they can be spotted in malls more. As for why you don't see them everyday, it depends on your 'circle' and you, maybe you're not judgmental about your friends, based on their looks, which is a good thing as non-pretty people are nice people too (usually nicer, or maybe I'm biased)

If you go to a gym, you'll see a lot of really burly guys and fit girls, and if you walk into a military base you'll see a lot of people in uniform, if you walk into a major art gallery you'll see a lot of artsy people while of you bum around a drag strip you'll see people rather down to earth. I guess your definition of "gorgeous" presumes massive attention to fashion and beauty that requires frequent visits to a mall. I would say that there are higher chances of seen an attractive young woman on a jogging track or in a University - I guess my perception is different.

For an advertisement constituting from 15 seconds to 2 minutes or a photoshoot for a advertisement display, exhaustive work happens to the model from hair, face, body, dress, different camera shots to see which one provides better light , better features and select the best among the 100 of photos taken. Think of it more like taking 100 pictures of yourself by slowly tilting your face facing light and taking the best picture among that 100. Still if you do not get a satisfactory picture, then Photoshop comes to the rescue. Check the video below to see how a model is transformed using photoshop.
