For many Apple products in China, demand far outstretched the supply. When new items were released in places like Hong Kong, Japan, or Australia, many organized purchasing efforts were put in place to buy products at the retail price in those country, 'import' (i.e. smuggle) them into China, and then resell them at a premium. These fake Apple stores are not necessarily selling at the MSRP for Apple products, but often have a premium.
