Mystery! Why isn't this website visible in Google's SERPs? + A Prize
-
If anybody can offer advice I'd really appreciate it. My client had a decline in visits from 4000 visits a month down to 1500 or less in early November 2012. They called me up to investigate this January. When I did a search query with the term http://Rheintech.com, only the homepage came up, nothing else. I did a backlink report and found 10,000 links with anchor text for "pills" coming from spammy sites. These were all directed to Rheintech's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use page. I changed the URLs of those 2 pages so all those links seemed to be cut off with 404s. I say that because I don't see these links in OpenSiteExplorer now that I just checked. Even though the back link profile looks ok, the visibility is still missing. I searched for the blog titles and chunks of blog text and nothing came up so the blog is not being indexed or it is blacklisted. I don't have access to Google webmaster tools, and I won't be able to make my own account until we relaunch the site in a month. (thanks to a grumpy hosting company). Maybe it's a penguin update that filtered the whole site except the homepage. I don't know. I figure that since my firm is redeveloping this site on the latest version of Joomla, and I'll be able to set up my GWMT account and be able to add a new sitemap, fetch as Googlebot and resubmit everything. This is a custom question and any advice from the experts would be greatly appreciated. I am happy to compensate for anyone who definitively solves this mystery so I can successfully reverse this invisibility cloak. (iTunes Gift Cards). Thanks!

Answer:
Based on what I see, I suspect your site may have a manual penalty. I would submit a reconsideration request to Google.

When I check site: command in Bing, it is clear the site was hacked. While the page in question that I noticed is now a 404, there may be other pages affected. I would not normally consider this a manual penalty but rather something Google puts in place to protect users from hacked sites. This block would likely not get lifted until the issue is cleared up. If is has been resolved, a reconsideration request won't help if you don't have access to Webmaster Tools. A warning would have been sent to the admin of the account. I'd go straight to the Hacked and Malware Forum on Google to surface your issue: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!categories/webmasters/malware--hacked-sites Hopefully someone can step in to assist on Google's side.

I think changing urls won't help for you. You need to disavow bad links and send reconsideration request to Google. I think this is only chance you have. Why dont you open wmt with analytics, i mean you can use (if you are) google analytics to verify wmt.

I searched for http://rheintech.com and saw a fair no. of search results. I am based out of India and perhaps there might be some localization issues at work as well. Working on SEO without GWMT is a daunting task, do you have access to analytics - I think you can claim ownership even with an admin access to GA. Have you tried that?
