I am a final year student at IIT. I want to work full time in some NGO and plan to shift to "normal" jobs later on. How will this affect my career? How will I find a good job later without campus placements.

I want to work full time in some NGO for I have a curiosity how it feels to be "truly happy" as some says to experience while doing social service. I also plan to shift to "normal" job after a year. How will this experience of working in NGO affect my career- starting with getting a job and skills acquired? Also do suggest some NGOs where I can contribute to my best.
