What are some options to an MBA in Finance?

• I'm an engineering graduate working in Sustainability Consulting with a lot of brand-name clients (Fortune 500) on the roster. However, I wanna make a transition towards finance. I've always been interested and have pursued self-education as a hobby for years (in economics, corporate finance, investing) but I wanna work in the field professionally. I was considering an MBA in finance but: 1. I'll need a ton more work experience (I have a mere year at the moment) which will take a lot of time and would mean me having to work in a field that I eventually wanna leave. 2. There's a good chance I would not be admitted to a brand name school even with the work experience. 3. I might have a better chance at a non-MBA program at a better school than an MBA program at a relaly good school. What options (courses and schools) should I evaluate for a similar career-path and what would I lose out on were I to consider them?
