How To Send Free Sms With Php Api?

Would you use a service that will push blog updates to readers via SMS?

  • UPDATE: Back in 2008-2010, there was "Google SMS Channel" (http://goo.gl/6pCs7h) focus on almost same thing but work terribly (or don't work at all), I like that service & decide to make my own that work (for myself only), but with evolution of time it become our major project. What I mean to say is that even service that doesn't work properly have so many account and too many subscriber (check here - http://goo.gl/6pCs7h), then why not us? Also guide me, what is the best place for this survey where I can find normal blog reader ? We are working on new service which push blog updates to their readers via SMS totally free.  As we have to continuously check if there is some thing new over the blog and even sometime we miss or late in reading the interesting or important update. We had developed our technology side & currently need external investment (to launch & develop more features), therefore we need feedback to know if it is acceptable or not. This is our first startup & we are developing it for more than 3 years, service have lots of features that focus on subscribers, and publisher also. Some of features are (there are many more which work internally): For Bloggers API Group Messaging Easy to Subscribe Widgets (2-step auth.) Subscription by SMS (Toll Free) Delivery of post with in minutes For Subscribers Easy & totally free to subscribe Limit number of total SMS in day Limit SMS time (ex : from 8 AM to 6 PM only) SMS popular post only (Yes,we are working on very great algorithm) Easy to manage multiple subscription via web or SMS Full real time update (or one can limit by above method) All these services & features are free but we do need little revenue to at least cover the cost of our server, expenses,SMS etc. So we decided to append little (very little) text advertisement in the last of SMS. The advertisement feature is so well design that it not disturb overall user experience and SMS.   The advertisement will only send in the SMS containing blog post, not even a single SMS containing only advertisement will sent to user, NEVER. So we need to know will blog readers subscribe it & if they will user get disturb or treat it like spam if we append advertisement.

  • Answer:

Firstly, no. Secondly, surveying random people on Quora is a terrible way to validate your startup idea. Thirdly, if you really took three years to build this and you're not just trolling Quora, you should ask yourself these two questions. Why did you spend three years building something that you don't know if anyone will use? Fourthly, there is a great service that can deliver blogs to you via SMS. It is called twitter.

No, I would not like to spam my readers via SMS or anything that is intrusive. Max I do is to tweet out when I post something new. I was asked to answer this.

Evident from answers that people don't want sms. How about asking the common readers and not power users on Quora? Also how about exploring a sync to WeChat, telegram or some app that works over IP. I may take that instead of sms.

No. SMS is a junk message medium already. I don't want more messages. 90% of my SMS inbox is alerts of some kind or the other. Just 10% humans. It's so bad now that I don't bother to check SMSes more than 2-3 times a day. I don't want this even more cluttered. (I was asked to answer this question)

I don't think i would like to share my mobile no for such updates. NO. Don't intend to discourage you of what you are trying to do but based on the pitch I won't use this.

Nobody reads blogs nowadays and we can access almost everything through our phone internet now so push SMS for blog updates is of no use anymore.

A2A. No. I dont want another sms. You should always ask these questions before building the app. and you should ask these questions to your target audience. Who is your target audience?

Whatsapp it man. Who uses SMS? On a serious note, you could utilize the still-to-mature Whatsapp API to send Whatsapp updates rather than SMS updates. I am assuming you need an instant medium because of your blog content.

No. I won't use this service as a blogger and as a reader. The only advantage I see in this RSS reader from other such apps is that it doesn't require a network connection and a smartphone! But, one needs those to read the links, right? So, how will this solve that problem? Or are you sending the full text of the blog through multiple SMS?

Balaraman Lakshmanan

I am both a blogger and a  subscriber: As a blogger: I would be happy to send SMS updates if my subscribers are opting for it. But I would refrain from putting ads in the SMS content - not sure how you are going to control UI with your ads. As a subscriber: I will not be interested in putting my phone number for blog updates. As of now my thinking is that I would like to get SMS updates only for essential information. So, unless the blog turns out to be an essential one for me, I will not be interested in this. Plus, I will also be concerned about my no. privacy.
