How to make soy beans milk?

Can regularly drinking soy milk make you aggressive and/or depressed?

  • It is about a year that I am drinking 2-4 cups of soy milk everyday. I am usually drinking organic soy milk. I recently experienced some level of depression and aggressiveness. I was wondering if this can be a side effect of drinking soy milk. I would like to add that I am 42 and male.

  • Answer:

Depression isn't always just feeling sad. Anger and feeling aggressive is also a symptom of depression. If you've felt this way for more than 6 weeks, I'd talk to a doctor and have some tests done. It's highly doubtful the soymilk is the problem unless there are other contributing factors.

In and of itself, I would say probably not. If you are otherwise healthy with no prior history of psych disorders, I would say get your testosterone levels checked out. Low testosterone seems to be particularly rampant in males aged 35 to 55 these days as a result of increased phthalate intake and nutritional deficiencies. There are also rumors of increasing incidences of "male menopause" which I am not entirely sure has always existed or is a result of modern life. However, the underlying issue is almost always connected to lower testosterone levels being produced. Theoretically soy milk isoflavones mimic estrogen hormones but I do not feel their action is potent enough to produce a significant fluctuation of hormones in the average healthy adult male.
