What would you suggest an engineering student in India to prepare for good technical internship or job?

Learn some javascript as well. Apply to companies for summer internships and see. You need a resume with projects that you have done. Do some simple hobby projects and put them there. You can make it all open souce in Github too. Have a linkedIn profile. Edit (For Anon's follow up): Well, you can learn python I think, if you want to use an IDE I suggest Jetbrains Pycharms, so you can code faster, but that does not necessarily mean you know python, that's just for basics. As far as projects are concerned, just take something solid. Like to put your Java to test, you can think about making a game or something. Or make like a desktop app for something you might do often, like keeping accounts or something. Need not be a big project, but just to solve a small problem.

Thanks.What would be your comment about learning python or some other language like ruby,pearl,etc. I know they are not necessary but still.And can you please ellaborate on the project part,since i have not done anything specific yet.
