Why don't people keep in touch with friends after marriage?

I wont say same is the case at my place. I do see a few friends who come to our house occasionally. But the reasons, as to why one narrows down his/her world to just family and relatives is purely a personal choice. Most of the time is absorbed in responsibilities and duties of both work and personal. All this is so exhausting that it outweighs taking care of few more relationships besides family and relatives. we assume they should work on their own. And in the end its mostly left unattended forgiving yourself by consoling that family is important and wondering what life would have been if you had the chance to live again.

It is quite difficult to generalize such a thing. Back in the olden days, people used to cook for about 20 people and bring them over for lunch and dinner. But as we progressed, our priorities changed. Now we care about money and don't have time for anyone else except for our own, even which is sometimes an obligation for few. Some people still have friends and relatives over, and some people I know go out with friends almost everyday.

When youngsters marry, there is an unwritten code of conduct.For boys, the bachelor friends drop out . In many cases , girls consider their husbands bachelor  friends as family disruptors and undesirable elements because of their lifestyle[read boozing.late nights and partying].But many boys do not give up  their bachelor friends easily. They wait for occasions when their wives are not around for a get together with their old single friends.With family growing and children around,  besides lack of time and change of geographical locations due to job compulsions, old friendships wither and die.For girls , it is still worse. They drop male gender friends totally. Female gender friends they do meet if they are also married . If they are single , they would like to keep them away from their husbands.lol

Marriage is a stage in life that is literally setting up a new lifestyle. Other blood relations start from the beginning of life itself and progress as everybody moves along… but marriage is an unnatural addition.At the start of marriage the couple is more involved in having romantic time with each other, compensating all those virgin 20–30 years of life with fulfilling their time at home with sex etc. No one wants to disturb them and they dont want to be disturbed.Then comes kids which in itself is something that keeps them busy 24/7…So friends who themselves get married, get busy in their lives… those who remain unmarried cannot stand married couples or being among a group of married people.
