How can I access my localhost from my Android device?

Is it possible to assign an IP address from the wireless router to a Raspberry Pi behind my laptop so that I can access the Raspberry Pi from my Android device?

  I'm guessing here, but it sounds like your laptop is connected to the router only via WiFi.  What operating system do you have on your laptop?  If you have enabled network sharing on the laptop and are sharing the WIFi with your Raspberry Pi, then you will likely be doing some flavor of NAT.  In this case, your Raspberry Pi should pick up an IP address from your laptop and you should be able to access the Internet from your Raspberry Pi. However, you will NOT be able to initiate connections to Raspberry Pi this way.  Instead of a NAT flavor of sharing, you would have to enable some flavor of bridging.  That would allow the router to supply an address via DHCP and would allow you to initiate connections to your Raspberry Pi.
