BlackBerry 10: How is your Q10 doing?
-
After playing with it for about 48 hours, here's some feedback from me (I was using Bold before): GOOD SIDES: - MUCH, MUCH faster; finally 800 emails a day is not really a problem; - great keyboard, as per usual; - Print To Go - I just started playing with it, and already feel it's awesome; - improved battery life; almost whole day of extensive data use (almost no phone calls) before the battery went red; - suggestions of emails recipients - great thing, if you need to add a lot of emails to a forwarded message - automated language switch - I added Polish to the list, and it recognizes it while typing, no need to switch languages or input method; works almost perfect, though of course I need to add some slang to the dictionary; - BB Hub - takes a few hours to get used to, but it is an improvement in my opinion; - improved camera; slightly, but still. THINGS I WILL HAVE TO GET USED TO (small nuisances): - no "clit"; this is a disaster; my thumb keeps looking for it when I want to scroll a message or webpage; if I wasn't used to touching the screen on my HTC all the time, I'd be pissed; - no BACK button; actually, removing all those function buttons from under the screen is a huge change; so far, however, I think it just takes a little bit of getting used to; - piss-poor earphones; no expectations here, but... people, jack up the price a little, if you have to, but please, please, PLEASE either provide a solid set with the phone, or don't bother doing it at all; I'm not gonna use it and I guarantee you, I'm gonna buy a different set from a third party; - poor screen resolution; I know it's saving battery, I know it's saving the cost, but if white looks gray in 2013, then I take it as poor quality; - taking pictures by touching the screen or using the volume control buttons. MISTAKES (because I hope those things were overlooked, and will be updated later): - volume control used to switch the tracks, too; it doesn't do it anymore; BAD CALL, guys; instead of just holding a button, now I have to turn the screen on, unlock the phone, go to the music player and hit the next track button; ridiculous; - when forwarding an email that has a signature, I can no longer choose to show the email address of the sender whose email is being forwarded; this is a BIG, BIG f...k up, guys; for the time being, the only workaround that I found, is to add the sender to the contacts, copy the email from the contact form, discard the new contact, go back to the email I want to forward, hit forward, paste the email and send; again: ridiculous (especially since I'm forwarding 80-100 emails every day); - some apps, like Whatsapp, are not indicated on the screen when prompting a message; all I get is the hub icon; I know that this is what the Hub is for, but... BIGGEST BEEF: LACK OF APPS Lack of apps for Blackberry was visible before already. Some of the apps available (like Wechat), were offered in a trimmed version (Wechat: no "moments"). OS10 doesn't support Wechat at all, for the time being. Now, I know that apps are third-party elements and BlackBerry guys can't really force outside developers to create/adapt apps for what still is a niche phone but... Seriously? No Wechat? No Candy Crush Saga? It's like you guys decided to ignore China market completely...

Answer:
In my opinion, Q10's earphones are good: first in-ear headphones that actually stay in my ears.. I use them when I do not want my Sennheiser headphones. You can switch to next/previous track by enabling it in the settings (main volume -> music shortcut). I am not sure to get yout point about forwarded emails but Outlook does not show email adresses of contacts when forwarding either. That is the reason why people usually insert their email adress in their signature. I do not like the screen either but the dpi are not to blame here. The technology is to be blamed but on the other end you have plenty of battery... I do not have to complain about apps on BB10. Sure more apps would be a good thing but I got everything I want (Fb, twitter, Skype, 4sq, Instagram, google maps (v7 on newest Android runtime - super smooth), news app, stocks, weather..)
