Is there a free community / open to anyone approach alternative for learning small business, esp. solo entrepreneur best practices (on how to make your first $1000) for the paid sources offered by Ramit Sethi, Tim Ferriss, Josh Kaufman, Chris Guillebeau, Noah Kagan, etc? Is business coaching an art

It makes sense to pay for business education but it is the Internet so of course I have to ask what is offered for free? Business courses offered by: Ramit Sethi: - http://earn1k.com/ - http://www.creativelive.com/courses/money-creative-professionals-ramit-sethi Tim Ferriss: - http://www.creativelive.com/courses/4-hour-life-tim-ferriss Noah Kagan: - http://www.appsumo.com/how-to-make-your-first-dollar/ Josh Kaufman: - http://www.creativelive.com/courses/personal-mba-josh-kaufman - http://www.creativelive.com/courses/personal-mba-part-2-josh-kaufman Chris Guillebeau - http://unconventionalguides.com/ebk.htm I especially like it saying it gives you just one step every day for 365 days; this is in line with what I know about human nature: it is much simpler to follow simple rules and orders than 'being creative' or 'thinking big'. I especially like the solo entrepreneur with maximum one virtual assistant model. Fits my personality. You can see most (or at least some) of them boil down on how to make your first $1000 a month from a business, as a starter. That might be our starting point. Perspective: http://www.joshuakennon.com/the-price-of-happiness-science-confirms-it-is-75000-per-year/ First of all this is a competitive market already with many similar offerings, hard to choose from. Side question: how would you choose from these and similar offerings if you were to hire one as your coach? How about the track records of these coaches/authors? One thing being a successful entrepreneur and another is the ability to effectively teach some basic skills. Is there a 'scientific formula' for small business success or it is mostly copying what's working for someone else (who is a different personality, form a different background in a different situation!), anecdotes and whatnot? Second, the new business opportunity here is to offer all these for completely free to the public (on the Internet, nothing beats free as a price) offer some community interaction (for example people with higher achievements help people with lower achievements), monetize on ads (Google can do it).

Answer:
I would add to the above: sign up for every free offer from those coaches you mentioned. There is an enormous amount of free knowledge out there if you know where to look. If you respect those gentlemen, look there. You'll miss the group/community that they specifically provide, but at least you are learning from people you respect. Also, make google site search your new bestie. You may find some hidden treasures there, such as older free offers and past webinars.
