What are the best companies to work for as a software engineer in Los Angeles?

I don't think http://facebook.com's engineering presence is as yet strong enough to be worth putting in the list. I don't know why 's answer was downvoted. I know people working at http://yahoo.com/ that are very happy. At least nowadays. Since took over. They are working really hard though. To make up for years of stagnation. http://Factual.com. Top notch people here. Not easy to get in but when you do, everyone around you is world class. http://Gravity.com. Some nice and sharp people here. It's fun working at any of the studios, but there are ups and downs. It tends to be less stable than your typical engineering job, so only do it if you're prepared to enjoy the ride while it's fun and move along at the drop of a hat. http://Nasa.com/JPL.
