What is the real difference between art and fine art?

i am new the world of art appreciation. so, i am not sure if there is any real difference between art and fine art. somewhere i read "all fine art are art, but not art art fine art." this got me thinking, there must be a difference. But what???? confused... P.S: sorry if the question sounds dumb.. i'm new to art.. so, i have the right to be dumb :) thanks

Fine Art is really just another way of saying visual arts, as opposed to performing arts or graphic arts. I suppose you could come up with criteria that could separate the amateur artists from the more professional, and the valuable art from the common art that anyone could create, but Fine Art is really just a label that lets people hand out specialized degrees for a given amount of study.
