Any advice for nursing school?

What advice can you give to a senior college student studying Nursing who is planning to get into law school?

• I took Nursing because I thought I wanted to be a doctor and now, I am at a point where I'm sure it is not for me. I think taking up Law is the next best step because I enjoy logic and value education a lot. But more than anything, working in a public hospital has taught me the messed up system society is geared with in a developing country such as where I live. This has increased my efforts in pursuing a role, during my rotations in the hospital, as a patient advocate. However, obviously I will have to get extra subjects to get there and this is fine, but for a path so weird as mine, do you have any advice?

  You want to make sure that you are a good writer. This is a crucial part of being a good lawyer and doing well in law school. So if you haven't taken many writing courses or haven't done much writing, get started. There is no specific path to law school. No necessary set of courses to take in college.  At least not here in the US. Find out if there are any where you are located. Your nursing background will be useful in terms of the discipline you probably have as well as your medical knowledge (if you decide to go into a practice area where review of medical records and medical knowledge is necessary.) However, I suggest you talk to other lawyers.  Look into the market in your country.  In the US there are too many lawyers and the employment opportunities are poor. Find out also what it is actually like to be a lawyer.  There are a lot of false impressions out there about what we do on a day-to-day basis.
