What are some good ideas to improve hardware industry of India like China?

• As India has already become a software giant, a hardware industry boost will make it unstoppable. India has most of the raw materials (for e.g.Iron, Aluminium, Plastic etc.) in itself. In fact China imports unfinished raw iron from India and delivers finished products to India and rest of the world. How the gap of raw material to finish/polished mobiles/electronic instruments can be narrowed down in India? Why there is there no such profitable hardware industry of India in India? What are the secret behind China's success and how it can be implemented in India?

  The Government of India has already tried to ape the chinese growth model.But the main reason which has led to all these good intentiontions gather dust is the fact that the land aquisition mechanism for SEZ has been challenged by the people who are losing the same.people are forced to accept very nominal or no price for their land due to marauding musclemen fed by their political bosses.Due to this there is general dissatisfaction and more often than not these people unite under any pressure group like media etc who are willing to take up their cause. The new "Right to fair compensation and transperency in Land Aquisition and Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act" has been passed by the legislature and is set to be implemented/enacted from 1 Jan 2014.Even though this is a small step forward hopefully land aquisition would become more transparent and would infact contribute towards the social inclusion of the families displaced.(However critics have already pointed out to some serious shortcomings and we might need to amend this act pretty soon) If creation of land banks is completed along with a concurrent development of Road and transportation We will be in a position to invest heavily into manufacturing and then make fruitful inroads into overseas markets. Before land is aquired inviting investors(domestic or international) is a pipe dream.The manufacturing and hardware revolution cannot come at the cost of lives of displaced people.A nation cannot make progress taking the affluent and the business class only.Lives of people without correct representation,without voice have to be heard too. Another take on the same issue is to slowly disinvest some public companies to generate capital and at the same time usher in an accountable management to lead the turnaround for sustainable profitability and future expansion. A different pertinent point again is to dissuade students specialising in core industries to make a career in software by revising salaries across the manufacturing and production as well. Political parties' role of understanding this is very important they should be morally and ethically bound to communicate/educate to people what the displaced would stand to gain and what the country would stand to gain.If families are truly compensated then there is no for them to spread paranoia to get votes.It is upto them to supervise the payments as well.But the problem arises at this point.People close to the local ruling party will use force and coercion to scare people into accepting low pay while they take the majority of their share for individual gratification and upliftment.Hence it is important to create an independent ombudsman body (answerable to the Cabinet or the PMO's office as well as the Public Accounts Comittee) to see the payments are effected properly. Hence we may conclude that the chief ingredient to start the hardware revolution in India is missing.We can only hope that the policy makers will see the implementation of LARR Act transparently as the first step towards this dream.
