The logo of a new Pakistani Channel Abb Takk is same as that of Aaj Tak of TV Today Network Ltd from India. Isn't this a case of copyright infringement? What is TV Today Network's take on this?

Wikipedia states that the channel owns 8XM (a music channel) as well. A look at http://8xm.tv will show its style/concept everything is just similar to 9XM.

Answer:
Superficially, it looks to be a case of infringement. However, as it is an international dispute, then it would have to be handled by the respective parties according to the respective laws of the countries. Since India and Pakistan are at odds with one another, it may difficult if not impossible to take any action. Indeed, in the case of past disputes, sometime countries which are in conflict with each other end up voiding or ignoring the other's copyrights, trademarks, and patents. I am by no means a lawyer, and I am not familiar with any of the pertinent details regarding this case. Only someone who knew Indian and Pakistani trademark law would be able to answer this question beyond these generalities.

You are listing this as "copyright infringement" but the actual compaint should be . The question here is: are people confused about what company this logo represents? Given that Aaj News has the award for being the best news channel, I can see why someone might want to copy their logo.

This is most certainly trouble if the original holder decides to sue. But since there is no overlap of territory, this may not happen. McDonald's tried suing someone for using their "M" in Bangalore for a completely different business, several years after that business had done that, and several years before McDonalds coming into India to do business as McDonalds. The Indian courts couldn't find anything registered in India that it was infringing upon, and dismissed the allegation!

Technically, I don't see both these logos being the same, to merit them being related under copyright. The design, elements inside it, strokes, etc are all different. So I don't see it being termed a copyright infringement.
