Where is a website where I can find demographic data. For the US?

Where can I find cheap or free data feeds for movies in theatres and new DVD releases for use in a commercial website?

  • Where can I get free or low cost movie feeds / data sources for use in a commercial website? I'm looking for two things - a list of what is currently in theatres (or new in theatres this week) and new DVD releases, updated weekly if not more frequently. Many sites, like Yahoo, offer these sorts of feeds free for personal use only. I checked out IMDB but I'm about $15,000 short on yearly licensing fees and considering that I don't want the entire DB as IMDB offers but rather only two small data feeds, I thought there'd be something else available out there - and if there is, I can't find it. Any suggestions?

    I maintain code that downloads and shows movie listings, and I'm sorry to say that you're SOL. There's nobody that does it for free, or even for cheap. http://www.cinema-source.com/ is the cheapest I've found, but it's still in th $100's per month range. Now... if you're not entirely concerned with being legal or ethical... it's pretty easy to scrape the data from one of the sites that aggregates it (Yahoo, for example). Again, not legal or ethical, but you'd probably not get caught.
