Where in Liverpool can I buy a gimlet drink?

Do you think it's wrong to agree to meet a friend for a drink at a coffee shop but decide not to buy a drink?

  • I didn't have money that day but I thought he needed to speak to someone so I offered to meet him for a drink because I didn't know anywhere else to go. But I ddin't order a drink cos I had no money. He offered to buy me one but I didn't know him that well to accept. Apparently, that was wrong. Thoughts?

  • Answer:

Apparently no way. You took the time and went even though you did not need a drink. You are too good for this person. Screw him.

Other answers

Well, it probably made him uncomfortable. In the future, you could say, "I'd like to meet with you, but I'm broke right now" and maybe offer to meet at a park or something to chat. If they know in advance you can't afford the outing and they offer to pay, you should feel free to accept their offer. If it still makes you uncomfortable, tell them and ask for alternate suggestions of a venue that won't cost anything.

Just Asking

Nothing wrong with that. If you can't afford one, then you can't. Besides, poor people should never be held to the same standards as rich and middle-class people. Poor people tend to do whatever they please, anyway. I've been poor for years and I tend to do whatever I please.
