Does 'in and out' hire people with tattoos?

Should more businesses hire people with visible tattoos?

  • I remember going to Extreme Pita once and I noticed one of the people who worked there whose tattoos were extremely noticeable. It actually made me respect Extreme Pita even more for having someone like that on its staff. What do you think?

  • Answer:

it should be down to the person themselves and if they have the skills and are capable of doing the job not what they look like

It's none of anyone's concern except the owner, and the owners perception of his business and clients. Let's make another stupid law to force the issue. Abolish tattoo discriminination!

Same. Pretty soon there will be no choice. More tattoos than not it seems.

Yes, they should, ink in a persons skin has no effect upon that persons intelligence or integrity, any more than a physical disability does. I can understand why catering companies don't like hiring people with lots of piercings, jewellery can come loose, some can harbour undesirable gunk (if it isn't properly cleaned), however,on the whole, I would have no problem being served by a pierced and/or tattooed person, I am one, it would be hypocritical if I did.

There's just one thing I don't agree with here. When you're going to work for someone, regardless of what is just and what is not or what seems unfair, or politically correct or what your views on "freedom of expression" are, we gotta remember that it's their business and they set the rules and if they find it unprofessional for people to work for them that have an appearance that could possibly scare customers away or deter them or hurt their business production in any way, it's totally their call. Unless it's something to do with natural physical appearance, I believe they are in their right to accept or reject anyone for their attire or other modified appearances like tattoos and piercings or certain hairstyles. We go to work for them, and receive orders, not to give them or impose our views on our bosses. It's like my old man would say, seems that nowadays the ducks shoot back at the rifles. It's just the way it is with business. You gotta do whatever it takes to make it thrive and if you feel something is gonna affect it negatively, you must make changes and quick! Seeing someone that is covered in tattoos, working at a certain place isn't really gonna make me think any different of that place, but I bet it will do so for many other people, and it's there that the owner/boss/manager should look into. I'm pretty sure sometime in the future if these get more common businesses will be more lenient with the whole subject, in the meantime if they see it affects more negatively than productively, they will continue to not accept it in their workplace.

Why not? I can't see what's the problem with it, anyway. I'm seeing so many people with tattoos these days, for most people there's not much of a stigma attached anymore.

i fully agree . its about time that people learn that prudes too aftraid to express themselves should have no place in socially programming you to think so too.

I think having tattoos is a personal thing that should not be a problem when getting a job!..

Only if they're Octopuses!

SURFDOG

I'd love that. I hope to be at least 15% covered in tattoos soon.
