Would you hire someone who had work experience over someone who had a college degree with no work experience?

If I had my druthers, it wouldn't be up to me. What would happen is that I'd have at least 5 qualified candidates to choose from, then I would turn the task over to an independent entity who would select the winning candidate AT RANDOM. Then I could say that my hiring process was approximately fair.

Experience always. In my experience a tittle means nuts when exposed to actual work conditions.

See, there's a big flaw in the recruiting process now a days.People might have got work experience of years, but what if they have worked on some repetitive job and the post requires the person to be dynamic? I have known people who have worked for 5 years on same technology, but they struggle when they face some new challenge.On the other hand, some fresh graduates take challenge up well and handle it with perfection.I'd say I'll expose both to some real time scenario before arriving on any decision. Quality always rules over quantity I should say.

These days, one may have 15 years work experience and a PhD and still not make the cut to flip burgers.

Depends on the position. In most cases I would go for the degree unless it was skill or semi-skill craft job.

I would hire who ever has what i will be looking for.
