what should i expect at a child support hearing? i modified my support to due to a change in my income and the other parent didn't agree

    When you go you court, you had better furnish lots of documentation as to why you could not pay what the court ordered, because the court will take the attitude that they come first. If you have purchased anything, like a new tv or car, and cut back on a support payment to pay for it, you are out of luck. You will make up all of the support they ordered that you cut back. They will move you up on the list for jail time if you violate the order again.

whatever you do, take check stub of reduced income...you have the right to call a hearing to have it reduced but you are not supposed to do this on your own...you will probably still be liable until the support is reduced, IF it is reduced.

Your child is what is important. If the court thinks you need to pay what they ordered to start with if they feel it is important to your child. You can't modify the support without court approval.
