What does the "year" on a bottle of wine stand for?
-
I bought a bottle of Italian white wine today, dated 2010. What does the date stand for? Does it mean it was bottled in 2010?

Answer:
On the wine label the vintage year is the harvest year of the grapes from which the wine was made but not necessarily bottled.

It's the year the grapes were picked and blended

It's the year the grapes were harvested. Of course, if the wine was bottled in the same year that the grapes were picked then the date would stand for the year it was bottled too. :-)
