Why is there no sound on the TV with the digital converter?

My TV is NTSC only. I bought a PAL to NTSC signal converter but not sure its hooked up right. Got a rolling picture and normal sound. Help?

  • I am in Germany with a 42 inch flat screen plasma TV, Toshiba model 42HP66. I am trying to use a Sky satellite box to receive Free Satellite channels only. The converter is called Universal Multisystem Video Converter. It has a video in put, video output, NTSC and PAL switches and power adapter. HELP ME PLEASE! I am pulling my hair out. I have a headache and have taken two Excedrin today.

  • Answer:

Use a Scart (on the Skybox) to RCA plugs, two for the sound, and one for the video inputs on your TV, then select on your TVs remote control an extension (EXT1) to get this cable go to a TV store that is near to an US base in Germany, and forget that converter

Other answers

Is this an old tube-type TV (pre-2009?) The NTSC standard is analog, whereas modern USA TVs take a digital signal. There are vary few NTSC TVs still in operation and those that are still in use require a digital to analog converter.
