How can a Canadian visiting the UK obtain an INR blood test?

Is an ecg, blood test and chest xray enough? Help please? (16 year old female uk)

  • I've been having chest discomfort for the past few weeks now, had 2 egs, one at the beginning of the discomfort, one this time last week I had a blood test done last Friday and a chest xray today, the results of each came back fine I've also been having quite bad anxiety over this and I've been having a few panic attacks, I keep getting fluttery sensations in the left side of my chest and my heart beat is quite hard and it sort of pinches when t beats, like a pinching feeling and it makes me tense because its so uncomfortable I guess these are palpitations, but it's weird because it started about 2 weeks ago and it's been NON STOP Seen many doctors and they are all saying its not my heart, but I feel like it's so weak and it's scaring me :(

  • Answer:

Speak to your parents about this. If your doctor isn't satisfying you with his testing .. might be time to get another opinion. You really need to work with your parents on this and not ask strangers on a website what to do.

You have seen many doctors saying it's not your heart that's causing this? What then? Didn't you ask them what it was? GERD (Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease) or heartburn or acid reflux can cause this type of chest discomfort, too, akin to having a heart attack. Or you could be having thyroid disease that's causing palpitations especially if you are losing weight and having easy fatigability. The most common cause for your age would be Costochondritis. Costochondritis, also known as chest wall pain and often temporary inflammation of the costal cartilage, which connects each rib to the sternum at the costosternal joint, and is a common cause of chest pain. ASK YOUR DOCTORS what it is if they say it's not your heart.

You need to go to A&E Natasha, and ask your parents to go with you. You need to be urgently assessed to diagnose the cause of your chest pain to ensure that serious and life-threatening conditions are not missed. Also, although the pain is in your chest area, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is your heart, it could be from something else but you need to go to A&E and discuss it with a doctor. You also need further blood tests as I think the one that you had was probably to see if you are anaemic, but you also need blood to be taken for renal function tests, thyroid function tests, fasting lipids and glucose, liver function tests as well as some others. Go to A&E and speak with one of the doctors or charge nurse/sister.
